Panel on Efficacy Evaluation of Fungicides and Insecticides
Gembloux (BE), 2006-11-22/24
The Panel on Efficacy Evaluation of Fungicides and Insecticides met at the Wallon Agricultural Research Center in Gembloux (BE), on 2005-11-22/24, at the kind invitation of Mr De Proft.
The Panel continued its main work on the preparation of standards for conducting field trials to evaluate the efficacy of fungicides and insecticides.
Standards on Aphid vectors of non-persistent viruses on seed potatoes and Aphids on top fruits (revision PP 1/21) were finalized and considered ready to be presented to the Working Party on Plant Protection Products for final approval in 2007.
A number of revised and new standards were completed and they will be sent to EPPO countries for comment: Pleospora allii (Stemphylium vesicarium) on pear; Aphid vectors of non-persistent viruses on flower bulbs; Thrips tabaci in leek, onion and garlic; Cabbage root fly on oilseed rape; Phytophthora infestans in potato (PP 1/2 revision); Alternaria solani & Alternaria alternata on potato and outdoor production of tomato.
Several new draft standards (General principles for studying the field efficacy of pheromone-based products, Disinfection in plant production, Diseases of mushrooms) remain under study and will be further discussed at the next meeting.
A joint meeting was held together with the Panel on Efficacy Evaluation of Herbicides and Plant Growth Regulators on 2006-11-22. Both Panels harmonized their standard texts. Two general standards (Effects on succeeding crops (revision of PP 1/207), Effects on adjacent crops) were finalized and will be sent for country consultation.
